ABSA Bank Delegation Pays Courtesy Call On Registrar Of Companies.

A delegation from ABSA Bank Ghana on Thursday, June 20, 2025, paid a courtesy call on the Acting Registrar of Companies, Mrs. Maame Samma Peprah, at her office in Accra.

The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in the areas of corporate governance, business registration compliance, and digital transformation.

Welcoming the delegation, Mrs. Peprah expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged ABSA’s longstanding contribution to Ghana’s financial sector. She noted that strong partnerships between regulatory bodies and financial institutions are key to improving the ease of doing business in the country.

Central to the discussions was the growing concern about the verification of entities during onboarding processes in the banking sector. Both parties acknowledged the critical need for robust due diligence mechanisms to prevent the infiltration of fraudulent entities into the financial system.

Other issues discussed included exploring the integration of technology to improve service delivery, data sharing for due diligence processes, and capacity-building opportunities.

The ABSA delegation, led by Mr. Gabriel Okai, expressed the bank’s readiness to collaborate more closely with the ORC on compliance-related issues and data exchange frameworks. He underscored the importance of accessing reliable entity information to meet regulatory requirements and improve customer onboarding protocols.

The meeting ended with a mutual commitment to explore technical cooperation and capacity-building initiatives that will support the broader agenda of building a resilient and transparent business and financial ecosystem.

Also present at the meeting were senior officers from ABSA Bank and members of the ORC’s management team, including the Deputy Registrar of Companies, Benjamin Zigorsh-Nyakpenu.
